When self-installed on a subfloor that does not meet BS8203 Standard.

Core Subfloor Requirements (BS 8203:2017)

• • Flatness Tolerances: The maximum allowable deviation is 3mm over a 2-meter straightedge, with no abrupt changes exceeding 1mm.
  • Moisture Limits: For glued resilient floors, concrete and cementitious subfloors must not exceed 75% Relative Humidity (RH). If levels are higher, a surface-applied Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) is required.
  • Timber & Plywood Underlays: All timber substrates must be securely fixed and overlaid with flooring-grade plywood at least 5.5mm to 6mm thick.
  • Plywood Specification (Annex A): BS 8203 includes a normative Annex A specifying that plywood used for fabricated underlays must feature exterior-grade glue, thicker, void-free face veneers, and tight dimensional tolerances to prevent “telegraphing” (imperfections showing through).
  • Site Conditions: The work area must be clear of other trades and maintained at a steady temperature between 18°C and 27°C during installation.
